At the May 14th meeting we welcomed six of our seven scholarship recipients. Students were presented with their certificates and joined together for a pizza lunch following their recognition. The following students received scholarships this year.
Ruby Gergovich, Alta Loma High School student, will attend UCLA; Aiyana Martel, Covina High School student, will attend CSU Long Beach; Cherise Hunt, Jessie Lerma, and Mayra Rubio will attend Mt. San Antonio College (the largest community college in California. offering various associate degrees and certifications in horticulture); Stefan Strong will attend Cal Poly Pomona; and Lexi Atler will attend CSU Northridge.
Our members enjoyed hearing these students talk about their experiences and future educational plans. The students and their guests were a joy to meet. We congratulate these students. We would also like to thank this year’s committee who met, planned, contacted schools, reviewed applications and presented the scholarship recipients.
